White Sox Call Up OF Trayce Thompson
(CBS) The White Sox have called up 24-year-old outfielder Trayce Thompson from Triple-A Charlotte, the team announced, ahead of Monday night's home game against Tampa Bay. Chicago optioned right-hander Scott Carroll to Triple-A after Sunday's loss to the New York Yankees.
Thompson is rated as the 15th-best prospect in Chicago's farm system, according to MLB.com. He's hitting .260 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs in 104 games at Triple-A this season. He was a Triple-A All-Star this year for the International League.
Thompson is a career .241 hitter in seven minor league seasons for the White Sox. This is his first call-up to the major leagues.
