White Sox Avoid Arbitration With Brett Lawrie, Dan Jennings

(CBS) The White Sox avoided arbitration with infielder Brett Lawrie and left-handed reliever Dan Jennings by agreeing to one-year deals with each player, they announced Thursday evening.

Lawrie signed for $4.125 million, while Jennings signed for $810,000.

Lawrie, 25, made a little more than $1.9 million in 2015, when he hit .260 with 16 homers, 60 RBIs and a .706 OPS in 149 games. The White Sox acquired him in a December trade, and he'll be their everyday second baseman.

Jennings, 28, made $523,000 last season, when he was 2-3 with a 3.99 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Right-hander reliever Zach Putnam and outfielder Avisail Garcia remain arbitration-eligible for the White Sox.
