Thibs: Teague A 'Special' Player

(WSCR) The University of Kentucky produced four first-round draft picks in this year's NBA Draft.

Playing in such a high-profile, elite system only made the Bulls decision to draft Wildcats point guard Marquis Teague with the 29th pick even easier.

"His speed and quickness are special," Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said. "His ability to push the ball, change the tempo of the game, those are some of his strengths. I think his ability to break a defense down and get into the paint - you have to have that in this league. ... That team had a lot of pros on it, so the ball had to be distributed, so I thought he did that better and better as the season went along."

With a National Championship under his belt, Teague has played in plenty of big games in his short career - something Thibodeau said will only help the point guard in the NBA.

"I think the big thing is he had played in so many big games in college," Thibodeau said. "It's a great program, so I think it helps to prepare him for this opportunity. I think he got better and better as the season went along. He played extremely well down the stretch and of course winning the championship was a big plus."
