Teen Charged With Hiding Camera In Neighbors' Bedroom
NORTH AURORA, Ill (STMW) -- A 16-year-old boy west suburban boy is charged with unauthorized video recording and disorderly conduct after a hidden surveillance camera was found in November in his neighbors' bedroom.
Around 2:10 p.m. on Nov. 17, homeowners in the 700 block of Oak Crest Drive in North Aurora reported finding a video camera hidden underneath some furniture in a bedroom while they were cleaning.
The camera was found to be a wireless transmitter camera with a range of 300 feet.
Investigators found that a 16-year-old neighbor had placed the camera in the bedroom while babysitting the victims' children.
Police determined the camera would not transmit out of the room, and do not believe the suspect was ever able to view the hidden camera's footage.
After searching the suspect's home, police seized computers, cables and storage devices, but a forensic computer examiner from the Kane County Sheriff's office could not find any images taken from the hidden camera while it was in the bedroom.
