Teen Charged After Firing Gun Near Police Headquarters

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A teenager is facing several charges, accused of firing a gun near Chicago police headquarters.

Demarquez Nelson, 19, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault to a police officer and unlawful use of a weapon. He was ordered held on $500,000 bond on Wednesday, and scheduled to return to court on Dec. 17.

Police say they saw Nelson fire shots at a car in the 3400 block of South Indiana Avenue just before 1 p.m on Monday.

At one point, police officers fired shots at Nelson, but no one was injured, police said. He was apprehended after the foot chase.

Nobody was hurt.

Nelson will be in bond court on Wednesday.
