Teen boy on e-bike critically injured in crash near Crystal Lake, Illinois

A teenage boy was in critical condition Thursday after his e-bike collided with a car near Crystal Lake, Illinois, the day before.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department said the crash happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walkup and Dvorak roads, right in front of Prairie Ridge High School.

Students were at the school receiving their class schedules at the time.

The teenage boy was first taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, but then had to be taken by LifeNet medical helicopter to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.

No one in the car was hurt.

The McHenry County Sheriff's office was investigating.
