Stone: Santos Has An 'Unhittable' Slider

CHICAGO (WSCR) After giving up eight runs in a stretch of 2.2 innings, White Sox reliever Sergio Santos seems to have regained his form. The Bellflower, California native has the potential to be a great closer.

"He's rediscovered the release point on the slider," Steve Stone said on the Danny Mac Show.

Santos was a big part of the White Sox taking the final two games in their series with the Cubs. He earned a save in both wins and struck out five batters without yielding a baserunner.

"When that slider is good, it's completely unhittable," Stone said. "It doesn't matter if you're right handed or left handed, it's equally as tough. You mix in a 96, 97 mile per hour fastball, with a guy that also has a very accomplished straight change.

"And this is a guy that also is not worried when he gives up a hit. You know, you wonder, after the first time, he went all spring without giving up a run, he went the first couple of months of this season without giving up a run, then he got hammered, then he had another bad outing, and you wonder how he's going to come back from it. He's come back exceptionally well. This is a pretty tough guy."
