Special Deals Abound In Chicago This Leap Day

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's that day that only comes once every four years, when women are purportedly supposed to propose to men, and when full-grown adults who are actually 28 years old get to celebrate their 7th birthdays.

And many Chicago area institutions are treating this Leap Day as the special occasion that it is.

At Navy Pier, you can leap into one of the cars on the Ferris wheel for free, and you won't have to pay for parking either.

Many of the restaurants, cultural institutions and other attractions at Navy Pier are also offering special deals for Leap Day.

The Chicago Children's Museum is offering admission for 29 cents for anyone 15 or under – although the deal does not apply to groups.

Look also for a $29 lunch or dinner package complete with a souvenir glass at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., $2.90 domestic drafts at Harry Caray's Tavern, a $29 dinner cruise at the Spirit of Chicago, and a chance to "leap" for a free mystery prize at the IMAX Theatre.

You can also create your own avalanche, run in a giant hamster wheel, and watch all the Charlie Chaplin movies you want at no cost to you this Leap Day. That's right, the Museum of Science and Industry is offering free admission all day.

Way up in Gurnee, anyone with a Leap Day birthday can get into Key Lime Cove for $29.

And while the tradition of women proposing to men on Leap Day may be mere folklore, a yoga studio in the Logan Square neighborhood is capitalizing on the idea. Every woman who brings a man to the Tula Yoga studio, 2827 W. Belden Ave., will get free admission.

Also, the Illinois Lottery expects 2-2-9 to be a popular number for the Pick 3 game drawing Wednesday night.
