Six Chicago Police Officers Injured in Garfield Park Crash
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Six Chicago police officers are hurt, one seriously, after their squad cars collided on the West Side while they were trying to reach an officer who needed help.
Police radio traffic just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday sounded like a car was ramming a police car in Garfield Park.
Police only confirmed there was a call to help an officer in trouble, and a vehicle was involved.
Two squad cars sped off to help the officer but never made it there because on Springfield and Jackson, the SUVs crashed into each other.
All six officers were taken to Stroger Hospital.
