Rogers: Youkilis Could Help The White Sox

(WSCR) The 33-year-old Kevin Youkilis is certainly not the player he used to be, but could he fit in on the South Side?

The White Sox have struggled to find consistent hitting from their third baseman this season, and it appears the Red Sox are looking to move the aging Youkilis, who is in the final year of his contract.

"There aren't many teams that need third base help more (than the White Sox,)" Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Youkilis, he's definitely on the downhill slide, but he's got that winning DNA. I think he can have an impact wherever he goes."

Youkilis is currently on the 15-day disabled list, working to come back from lower-back discomfort. In 18 games before landing on the disabled list, he hit .219 with two homers, nine RBIs and a .292 on-base percentage.

"The Youkilis thing is a trade that's sitting there for somebody," Rogers said. "Youkilis has to get back on the field and start to hit again, but Boston is definitely looking to move him. They have that kid Will Middlebrooks who is playing great. Sort of a lightening in a bottle situation where somebody is going to step up and grab him and see if he can help them."
