Report: Pippen Released After Questioning

UPDATED -- 4:57 p.m. CT

(CBS) Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen turned himself over to police to be questioned Monday afternoon regarding an altercation he was a part of over the weekend in Malibu.

After he was questioned by police, Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County sheriff's office, said Pippen will not be charged.

"Mr. Pippen will not be arrested, there's more here than meets the eye," said Whitmore.

TMZ reported Pippen punched an autograph seeker in the face and kicked him repeatedly Sunday night outside of a sushi restaurant, sending the man to the hospital.

Before he spoke with police, Pippen was considered a suspect and faced possible felony assault charges.

"He came in to be interviewed, he's been cooperative," Whitmore said.

"We have to investigate and check with all the witnesses and find out exactly what happened," Whitmore said.
