Bears Interviewing 4 GM Candidates

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Bears are set to interview four candidates for their open general manager position: Chiefs scouting director Phil Emery, Patriots personnel director Jason Licht, Chargers personnel director Jimmy Raye and Giants scouting director Marc Ross.

The Bears announced the candidates on ChicagoBears.com Wednesday.

Emery, director of college scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs, was an area scout with the Bears from 1998-2004. He later became director of college scouting for the Atlanta Falcons from 2004-08, before he was made regional scout for Atlanta's 2009 draft. He's spent the past three seasons with Kansas City.

Licht, director of pro personnel for the New England Patriots, has spent 16 seasons in the NFL. He started with the Patriots in 1999 as a college scout and was promoted to the team's national scout in 2001. In 2002, he was promoted to assistant pdirector of player personnel. He then went to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was assistant director of player personnel from 2003 to 2005 and vice president of player personnel from 2006 to 2007. He went to the Arizona Cardinals in 2008 to serve as a personnel executive, before returning to the Patriots in 2009.

Raye, director of player personnel for the Chargers, joined San Diego in 1996, spending four seasons as a scout and eight seasons as director of college scouting, before taking his current position in 2008. He was a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams in 1991 and later went to training camp with the Chargers in 1992 and Houston Oilers in 1993.

Ross is in his fifth season as director of college scouting for the New York Giants, after joining them in 2007. He ran his first draft in 2008. He also worked in the personnel department for the Eagles in 1996, before taking over as the team's eastern regional scout from 1997 to 2000, when he became the NFL's youngest college scouting director.

Bears director of player personnel Tim Ruskell also remains an in-house candidate to replace Angelo.

The team has not ruled out other candidates.
