Rally Held In Support Of Reparations For Chicago Police Torture Victims

(CBS) -- A citizens hearing and rally on reparations for Chicago Police torture victims was held Saturday in downtown Chicago.

WBBM's Mariam Sobh reports more than 100 people gathered at the Chicago Temple at 77 W. Washington where torture survivors, psychologists and alderman spoke about the need for not only money, but social services for survivors of police brutality and their family members.

"We're asking people here on Valentine's Day to have heart and show some love for the torture survivors and we're going to urge everyone to call on their political leaders that they too have some heart and that they show some love for the Chicago Police torture survivors," said Joey Mogul with the People's Law Office.

Mogul says organizers currently have an ordinance that more than 27 alderman signed onto a year ago. Their goal with the citizens hearing is to push for an actual hearing before the City Council.
