Protesters gather on Chicago's Southwest Side after reports of masked ICE agents and arrests

Activists gathered Monday afternoon on Chicago's Southwest Side after reports of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity and arrests.

The protesters responded to reports of masked agents spotted in the 3100 block of S. Damen Ave., and near 33rd and Wolcott in the city's McKinley Park neighborhood.

There were reports that agents arrested someone near Damen and the Stevenson Expressway.

The activists blew whistles and alerted residents to the agents' presence.

CBS News Chicago cameras caught several agents in the area wearing clothing that identified them as ICE.

No further information about any arrests or detentions was immediately available. CBS News Chicago has reached out to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for more information and is waiting to hear back.
