Prosecutor Won't Pursue Case Against NIU Administrator
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A prosecutor is backing off felony charges that had been leveled against a high-ranking administrator at Northern Illinois University.
Charges Dropped Against NIU Official
NIU controller Keith Jackson was one of several people charged in the university's so-called coffee fund scandal.
Now the DeKalb County state's attorney's office has dropped charges against Jackson, saying Jackson was not aware of a secret bank account set up for parties and other social events.
The money allegedly came for the sale of recyclable materials at NIU, including materials from building renovations at the university.
Jackson was put on paid leave when he was charged last fall.
He returned to his job a few months ago.
