CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you get an email that looks like it's from the U.S. Postal Service telling you about a package that couldn't be delivered, watch out.

Post Office Warns Of Scam Email

At least one version of that email misspells the word "couldn't," saying "Our courier couldnt make the delivery of parcel to you..."

The logo indicates it's from the U.S. Postal Service, but Julie Kenney, spokeswoman for the Postal Inspection Service, says it's a scam.

"This is - I haven't seen this one before. It's fairly new," said Kenney.

The scam email invites you to click on a link and "print label and show it to the nearest post office," but Kenney says if you click on that, it could give the scammer access to personal information, like account numbers.

The postal inspection service advises anyone who receives one of these scam emails to forward it to Recipients may also call the postal inspection service at 877-876-2455.
