Police: Woman Runs Over Man With Car During Gang Fight
CHICAGO (STMW)--A Humboldt Park woman was ordered held on $200,000 bond Monday for allegedly driving an SUV over a man during a Friday night gang fight on the Northwest Side.
Esmeralda Munoz, 29, of the 1600 block of North Kimball Avenue, was charged with one count of felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
On Monday, she was ordered held on a $200,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. She will be back in court Friday.
Munoz is accused of striking a rival gang member with an SUV about 10:55 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of North Hamlin Avenue, Estrada said. The man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with blunt trauma and internal bleeding.
Witnesses told police the incident started when one gang threw bottles, cans and newspapers at another gang inside the SUV.
