Pedestrian Killed In Five-Car Crash On South Side

(STMW) -- A 51-year-old pedestrian was killed in a five-car crash that stemmed from a domestic-related argument Sunday morning in the South Side Washington Park neighborhood, police said.

The crash happened at Garfield and State about 3:05 a.m., according to police.

A 28-year-old man drove off after getting into an argument with a woman, 32, police said. The woman then followed him in her own vehicle, which struck his car and caused it to hit Brent Nelson, authorities said.

Nelson — who police said was 53 — was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 6 a.m., the Cook County medical examiner's office said. His home address wasn't known Sunday afternoon.

Charges are pending against the woman, and investigators are questioning the man, police said.
