Teenage boy wounded in shooting inside Carol Stream duplex, police say
A teenage boy was wounded in a shooting on Tuesday morning in west suburban Carol Stream.
Police said that around 10 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the 500 block of Alton Court in the Newport Villages subdivision.
When officers arrived, they found the boy, whose age was not released, who had been shot. The boy was conscious at the time and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the shooting apparently happened inside a home and was an isolated incident.
Neighbors who were home at the time of the shooting said they didn't hear anything—one of them saying she couldn't believe the scene of officers and crime tape outside of her home.
"Pretty scary. It's what, two houses, three houses away from me," said Natasha Glanville.
Officers are still at the scene for investigation.
"For an incident of this nature, really any criminal incident that happens in Carol Stream, the police department wants to do everything within our power to bring these individuals to justice," said Carol Stream Police Chief Don Cummings.
The shooting remained under investigation on Tuesday afternoon, and police asked anyone with information on the shooting to call Carol Stream police at (630) 668-2167.
