Police Find 13 Neglected Pit Bulls During Search Of Home
(CBS) -- Chicago police were executing a search warrant at a South Side home looking for drugs but came across another crime: 13 pit bulls living in filthy cages, caked in urine and feces.
Prosecutors say 34-year-old Charles Tate was keeping the pit bulls, which had no access to water from their cages.
Tate is a known gang member, on probation for previous animal cruelty charges, authorities said.
He's now facing more animal-related violations and two felony drug charges.
The dogs were taken into the custody of the Animal Control Department.
