New Web Site Ensures Chicagoans Are Prepared During Winter
CHICAGO (CBS) -- There's no way to deny winter now – the air is frigid, and snow is on the ground.
And as WBBM Newsradio's Lisa Fielding reports, Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants Chicagoans to pitch in and prepare.
A new Web site, called ChicagoShovels.org, offers interactive online help in dealing with the city's winter weather.

One feature will be the new "Plow Tracker" that allows residents to monitor the progress of the city's snow plows.
"It's like bus tracker or train tracker. You'll be able to see where the snow plows are and it updates every few minutes," said city Chief Technology Officer John Tolva.
The Web site will also feature an Adopt-a-Sidewalk Program and a Volunteer Snow Corps.
New smart phone apps will also be be available to find out if your car was towed and where it is or if the winter parking ban is in effect.
"Winter preparedness is everyone's responsibility, and when we come together, community by community, block by block, we can help reduce the dangers and health risks that winter weather can bring," Mayor Emanuel said.
