Mom Of Teen Fatally Shot By Police Files Lawsuit
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The mother of a teen shot and killed by police has filed a federal lawsuit against the city and two officers, alleging "police have no regard for the sanctity of life when it comes to people of color."
Police say 16-year-old Pierre Loury bailed out of a car involved in a shooting on the West Side last week and officers shot him when he pointed a gun at them.
But according to the lawsuit, the teen was climbing a fence when he was shot.
The teen's memorial service was held yesterday.
"That was our lamb, right there," said Araewa Karen Winters, Loury's great-aunt. "So you all done came and got the lamb."
The city's law department hadn't seen the lawsuit and had no comment.
