Miller: Tice A Good Choice For OC

(WSCR) Though reports are surfacing that Mike Tice is in line to interview for the Raiders coaching position, for the time being, he is still the Bears offensive coordinator.

Former Bears quarterback Jim Miller joined The McNeil and Spiegel Show on Thursday and said he thinks Tice was a great fit for the Bears.

"I'm comfortable with it," Miller said. "Mike Tice has called plays before up there in Minnesota. They had pretty darn good offenses. I think he's focused on running the football and doing the things that are necessary for the Bears to achieve success. More than anything, (he wants) to keep the continuity. They can probably keep the run game similar to what it was. Now, you can dabble in the passing tree."

Whether or not Tice stays, quarterback Jay Cutler will still have a new offensive coordinator, making it the fourth time in seven seasons he's had a new coordinator. Still, Miller isn't concerned with Cutler's ability to grasp a new offense.

"I think they'll probably scrap what Martz did," Miller said. "There will probably be a new set of communication or verbiage for protection, which, that isn't difficult.

"I don't think it matters at this point now that he's been exposed to all of these offenses. ... I think Jay is pretty comfortable."
