Extensive Delays For Metra BNSF Service After Amtrak Train Kills Person Near Berwyn

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Metra BNSF service was halted for more than two hours Monday, after an Amtrak train hit and killed a person near Berwyn.

An Amtrak spokesperson said a train headed from Quincy, Illinois, to Chicago struck and killed a person who was trespassing on the tracks late Monday morning.

Metra BNSF Railway trains were halted for more than two hours after the accident, but one track reopened around 1 p.m., allowing trains to begin moving again.

BNSF riders should expect extensive delays Monday afternoon.
