Man Injured After Being Hit By CTA Train

CHICAGO (STMW) – A man suffered a broken arm and leg after being hit by a CTA train near a South Side station Friday evening.

The man was struck by a northbound train just after 7 p.m. near the 47th Street station, CTA spokeswoman Sheila Gregory said.

Gregory said the person was "conscious and breathing" as he was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said the man was taken in serious-to-critical condition.

Police said the man suffered a broken arm and leg.

It's unclear how the man was struck by the train. Police were looking into whether he was standing too close to the platform's edge.
