Man Dies After Falling Onto Blue Line Tracks

FOREST PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- A 28-year-old man is dead, after falling onto the tracks at the Forest Park Blue Line 'L' terminal Tuesday night.

Authorities say the man – identified as Jeffrey Knoll of the 100 block of Luther Lane in Frankfort – was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 p.m.

Police say he appeared to have fallen off the platform onto the tracks at the forest park station just after 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office believes Knoll was electrocuted after falling.

Following the incident, the Chicago Transit Authority shut down power between the Austin and Forest Park stations, cutting off Blue Line service to suburban Oak Park and Forest Park on the Blue Line for a period of time.

Normal service resumed about midnight on Wednesday morning, according to a CTA alert, which added that trains were experiencing residual delays.
