Bodies removed from house in Mundelein, Illinois
At least three bodies were removed from a house amid a major police investigation in the north Chicago suburb of Mundelein early Monday.
Investigators were on the scene at a red house in the 200 block of Wellington Avenue Monday morning. They had been on the scene for several hours as of 8 a.m.
Police dispatch audio indicated that five people were found dead when officers arrived at the house and two guns were recovered, but Mundelein police have not confirmed any of this information.
Neighbors were told there was no threat to the public, and the sequence of events all began with a wellbeing check from a relative of the people who lived in the house.
CBS News Chicago was on the scene as investigators brought out three bodies on stretchers during the 7 a.m. hour. Each was covered in a black sheet.
Earlier, evidence technicians were seen working their way through the house. Police from several surrounding towns were called to the scene to help.
The Lake County Sheriff's office said its task force was assisting with evidence technicians, but referred further questions to Mundelein police.
Information from Mundelein police was not immediately available.
