Five people were hurt following a crash on Route 53 in Lombard, Illinois, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to village, the crash involving three vehicles occurred near the area of Illinois Route 53 and the Illinois Prairie Path. 

CBS Skywatch was over the scene where an orange SUV with heavy damage to the passenger side was being taken away by a tow truck. According to Kris Habermehl, a second vehicle was already towed from the scene. 

They said the victims were taken to local hospitals in unknown conditions. 

It is unclear what led to the crash.

Route 53 remains closed between St. Charles Road and Madison Street as the investigation into the crash continues. The roadway reopened around 4:40 p.m., the village said.
