Jam Productions To Dump Ticketmaster At Some Venues
CHICAGO (STMW) - A Chicago concert promoter filed a complaint against Ticketmaster Monday, claiming the ticket distributor has failed to recognize an agreement termination and has failed to pay royalties.
Jam Productions LTD., a Chicago-based concert producer and promoter, is asking a judge to settle a dispute with Ticketmaster LLC about who has the right to sell tickets at the Park West, Riviera Theatre and Vic Theatre, according to a complaint filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
Jam Productions claims it can terminate it ticket sales agreement with Ticketmaster and use another ticketing company for the three theaters because Ticketmaster merged with Live Nation Inc., a competing concert producer and promoter, according to the complaint.
The complaint claims the agreement allows Jam Productions to break the agreement if Ticketmaster becomes "engaged in the day-to-day business of promoting live entertainment events or primarily engaged in the day-to-day business of artist management."
However, Ticketmaster disputes the termination of the agreement and has threatened legal action, according to the complaint. Ticketmaster has also failed to pay royalties owed to Jam Productions from ticket sales prior to the termination of the agreement, the complaint said.
Entertainment Consultants Inc. is also listed as a plaintiff, and they claim Ticketmaster terminated their as-needed consulting services because they failed to help with the Park West, Riviera and Vic., according to the complaint. The two had a contract through 2011, and Ticketmaster currently owes ECI $125,000, the complaint said.
The five-count complaint is seeking a judge rule Jam Productions properly terminated the agreement and order Ticketmaster to pay at least $32,940.71 in royalties from ticket sales prior to the termination of the contract, plus the cost of the suit.
ECI is seeking a judge rule that Ticketmaster had no right to terminate their agreement and order Ticketmaster to pay the $125,000 in owed payments.
Ticketmaster could not immediately be reached for comment.
