3 rescued from house fire on Chicago's South Side
Three people were rescued from a house fire in Chicago's Roseland neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, firefighters responded to the 10400 block of South Emerald Avenue, where the house was engulfed by thick black smoke.
Officials said three people were rescued from the front and the side of the house.
No injuries were reported.
Neighbors were driving nearby when they saw the smoke around 5:30 a.m. and called 9-1-1. Witness Keymari Shoulders said she then drove by and saw someone inside struggling to get out of the burning home.
"They opened the big door, but they could not get the screen open," Shoulders said. "When they opened the big door, a log of smoke kept coming out."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
