Home invasion suspect in custody after barricade situation in Homer Glen
A suspect was taken into custody after SWAT teams surrounded a home in southwest suburban Homer Glen on Tuesday, following a home invasion in nearby Darien.
Darien police said that around 2:10 p.m., officers responded to a home invasion in the 1400 block of Sequoia Drive. Officers later located the suspect at a home in Homer Glen.
Homer Glen Mayor Christina Neitzke-Troke said in a post on Facebook that the suspect barricaded themselves inside their home in Homer Glen, and Will County Sheriff's police were helping to maintain a perimeter around the home.
Will County Sheriff's police were on scene in the 13200 block of Maverick Trail, assisting other law enforcement agencies in a barricade situation.
Officials later confirmed the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect has not been identified.
Darien police said the victim of the home invasion was released from the hospital Tuesday night.
The investigation is ongoing.
