Hadiya Pendleton Foundation Holds Summit On Gun Violence

(CBS) -- The city's youth raised their collective voice against gun violence in the city during a summit hosted by the Hadiya Pendleton Foundation on Saturday afternoon at the DuSable Museum.

A week after performing at President Obama's inauguration ceremony last year, 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was shot and killed while standing with friends inside Harsh Park on the South Side.

In the wake of her death Haydia's parents started "Hadiya's Promise," an initiative dedicated to ending gun violence. The summit called on Chicago's youth to help shape the direction of the foundation

City officials, including Mayor Emanuel, hope ideas from young adults in Chicago can help shape new policies to curb violence.
