Golden Retriever Rescued From Frozen Pond By Aurora Firefighters
(CBS) -- A 100-pound golden retriever named Houdini lived up to his name Tuesday night in Aurora, first disappearing, then re-appearing with some help.
It was about 7 at night and Houdini's owner Andrew let him out as he usually does but unusually, Houdini disappeared.

"I heard a flailing and I heard what sounded like my dog emitting serious distress calls," he said. " So I just called him and called him. And I could see his head sticking out of the water."
In the retention pond that's behind Andrew's house in Aurora.
He called 911 and firefighters came in just a few minutes.
"One of them jumped into the water, and Houdini is about 100 pounds in weight, so he really struggled to get Houdini out of the water for a good 5 or 10 minutes," Andrew said.
But then Houdini was out after about an hour of dog-paddling in icy water.
"He lived up to his name. Not only by disappearing but also working to get out of that awful situation that he was in, with the help of the whole team of first responders, obviously."
