Former Bears DT Tommie Harris' Wife Dies At 29

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It is a tragic morning for former Bears Pro-Bowler Tommie Harris, as his wife died Sunday in Oklahoma.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Harris' wife, Ashley, died Sunday from either a stroke or a brain aneurysm.

Harris married his wife in January, and she delivered their second child four months ago, the Sun-Times reported.

Harris, 28, was a defensive tackle for the Bears beginning in the 2004 season, when he was picked in the first round of the NFL draft.

He was released in February of last year, and signed with the Indianapolis Colts the following August. But he was released a month later, and played the 2011 season with the San Diego Chargers.

But Harris remains a favorite among his former teammates. Several current Bears rushed to be with him in Oklahoma, the Sun-Times reported.
