Family Of Murdered Chicago Heights Man Canvasses Area For Information On Killer
(CBS) -- More than a week after a Chicago Heights man was shot while doing dishes, police are still looking for who killed him. WBBM'S Nancy Harty reports, they got some help Saturday morning from the victim's family.
Relatives of Juan Ortiz were walking their own street handing out flyers with his picture. Many of them live near 16th and Sunnyside where the 44-year-old scrap metal collector and father of four was shot in the chest on December 11.

According to his nephew Esteban Hernandez, Ortiz was standing at his kitchen sink.
"He has run to the living room to see if the kids were ok and that is when other shots started coming into the house," Hernandez said.
Relatives say Ortiz was a family man who didn't belong to a gang and didn't drink or smoke. They do not understand why he was targeted and are struggling with his death so close to Christmas.
Cook County Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information.
