Expert Picks: Packers Edge Bears For NFC North Title

(CBS) Every week during the Bears season, our experts from 670 The Score, CBS2 and WBBM Newsradio 780 & 105.9 FM provide their picks for the Bears game:

All-everything QB Aaron Rodgers is back. Rookie-of-the-year RB Eddy Lacy likely to play. Even wide receiver Randall Cobb could get the green light after a 10-game absence. Should spell trouble for the Bears. But nothing this season makes sense. Going back to Dick Schapp, Dick The Bruiser and Dick Young again this week. The bad news? They were wrong last week. Rodgers, and Cobb, provide enough in their returns to power the Packers through a surprisingly valiant Bears defensive effort. Cutler commits enough errors to make the offseason as interesting as the season has been.

Rodgers may be back, but Randall Cobb is still doubtful, Eddie Lacy is questionable and Clay Matthews and Jermichael Finley are out -- yet the Packers are favored at Soldier Field. The Bears are my five-star lock of the week. The Bears' defense has always given the offense a chance to beat Rodgers, but as Cutler pointed out, they "weren't as good on offense." Now they are. Problem is, the defense is horrible. Or it could be Bears 38, Packers 31. We'll see.

Even a rusty Aaron Rodgers should carve up this Bears defense. Jay Cutler would have to be close to mistake-free to keep up. I don't think he's capable of that. No playoffs this year. Rusty or not, the best player in the NFL is back for the Packers and you just can't put a price tag on that. The Bears will bounce back from their national TV embarrassment against the Eagles and get in to the playoffs. People will buy NFC North Champion T-Shirts, then regret the purchase, as they are eliminated in the first round.

I wish it weren't as simple as saying the Packers have the edge with Aaron Rodgers back. But it is. There won't be any rust on Aaron Rodgers, as he exacts some revenge against the downtrodden Bears defense. "The season ends as I imagined opening day-- behind Green Bay. But with a truly potent offense fans can look forward to, and a defense that's bound to improve.
