Over the next week, the Board of Elections will be delivering voting materials to 2,500 precincts. According to board spokesman Jim Allen, for the past couple of years, one way officials make sure the right voting materials get to the right polling places is by attaching GPS devices to all of them.
"It helps us identify – in the days before the election, in most cases – that, 'Oh, this is at Lindbloom Park when it should be at Lindbloom Library or something like that."
Allen says the GPS comes in especially handy for Congressional and state legislative elections, when district boundaries can vary from block to block.
