Driver Critically Injured In Roseland Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are looking for one of two drivers involved in a serious crash in the Far South Side Roseland area early Sunday. Oddly enough, the driver who fled the scene does not appear to be the one who was at fault in the crash.

About 3:30 a.m. a GMC minivan was heading west on 115th Street when the driver went through a red light and struck a Chevrolet Impala at the intersection of 115th and Halsted streets, according to police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

The driver of the minivan, a man in his 40s, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in "very critical" condition, Perez said.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit "is seeking to interview the Impala driver, who did not remain at the scene," Perez said.

Police do not yet know why the driver of the Impala, who apparently did not cause the crash, fled the scene.
