Derrick Rose Out Against Bucks As He Deals With Knee Soreness

By Cody Westerlund-

(CBS) Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will miss Saturday night's home game against the Bucks as he deals with left knee soreness, coach Tom Thibodeau said.

Rose was also listed on the injury report as having a right hip contusion, but Thibodeau said it's "just some knee soreness" that's the problem.

Rose didn't participate in the Bulls' afternoon walk-through at the United Center. He played 31 minutes in Friday's loss at Washington, scoring 19 points and showing signs of breaking out of a six-game shooting slump. Rose "had a little bit of soreness" on Friday, Thibodeau said.

"We just want to see where he is," Thibodeau said.

Asked how concerned he was, Thibodeau responded, "I'm always concerned."

Rose underwent treatment Saturday afternoon and will see the team Dr. Brian Cole later in the evening. Thibodeau didn't believe an MRI was scheduled for Rose as of 5:15 p.m., but he added that "could change after he sees Dr. Cole."

Rose tore his left ACL in April 2012 and sat out all of the 2012-'13 season. He suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee in November 2013 and missed the rest of the 2013-'14 season.

This will be the 11th game of the season Rose has missed. He hadn't missed one for injury reasons since Nov. 21. He did miss two games in mid-December with an illness.

Rose is averaging 16.9 points per game, third-most on the team.

Mike Dunleavy will also miss the game as he deals with a jammed right ankle. Thibodeau didn't know the results of his MRI yet.

Saturday will mark the fifth straight game Dunleavy has missed since suffering the injury on Jan. 1.
