Customer Claims Infection Came From Tattoo Shop

CHICAGO (STMW) - A man filed a lawsuit Monday claiming that his ear became infected after receiving a piercing at a tattoo shop in the Northwest Side Belmont Cragin neighborhood.

Seth Lande claims that he received a piercing June 26, 2009 in the cartilage of his right ear at Jade Dragon Tattoo Inc. at 5331 W. Belmont Ave., according to a lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court. He suffered an infection that spread through his bloodstream.

The suit claims that Lande suffered severe permanent and painful injury to his right ear, head and neck and will continue to suffer from the disfiguring injury in the future. The injury also caused Lande to spend great sums of money for medical care and treatment.

The suit seeks more than $50,000 in damages.

Cindy Scapini, owner of Jade Dragon Tattoo, said she had no knowledge of the lawsuit.
