Cowboys Romo Undergoes Surgery, Orton To Get The Start

(CBS) Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo underwent back surgery and will miss the remainder of the season and the playoffs, the team announced Friday.

"We anticipate this surgery to solve the issue with his back," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said.

That means former Bears quarterback Kyle Orton will get the nod in this Sunday's NFC East title game against the Eagles.

Orton, 31, hasn't started a game since he split time with the Broncos and Chiefs in 2011.

Draft in 2005, Orton spent the first three years of his career in Chicago, throwing for 5,319 yards, 30 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
