Cooper: Looking Forward To Returning To White Sox

(CBS) After missing the White Sox's entire 10-game road trip with a bout of diverticulitis, pitching coach Don Cooper will rejoin the team Friday to kick off a three-game series against the Twins in Chicago.

Though he's been out of commission for almost two weeks, Cooper has still kept up with what's going on with his White Sox.

"I've been watching all the games on TV," he told The Mully and Hanley Show on Thursday. "I saw all the Cleveland games and I've seen all the Toronto games so far. I look forward to when the game comes on TV. That's the highlight of my day. You get a much, much different perspective from where I usually sit. It's not as good as the one I got. I'm anxious to get back. I'm looking forward to it."

Cooper also had a message for all those who have sent well wishes his way.

"Thanks to everyone who sent messages to me, checking how I feel," Cooper said. "Things happen for a reason. I think the reason was to remind me how many good friends I have and people who kind of care about me. (I've realized) how much I miss being the Chicago White Sox pitching coach. I'm anxious to get back tomorrow."
