Construction Worker Dies After Being Pinned Under Equipment
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 48-year-old construction worker has died after being pinned and trapped under a piece of large equipment in Englewood, authorities say.
The accident happened Thursday afternoon in the 6200 block of South May in the Englewood, where repaving work has been going on.
A police spokesman says it wasn't clear whether the man was trapped under a crane or some type of other equipment.
It took a number of crews to free his victim from the machine. He was declared dead at the scene shortly before 1 p.m., police said.
The victim worked for G.A. Paving, based in Bellwood. The owner tells CBS 2 it's a sad loss for his company.
A co-worker said the victim was experienced, with nearly 20 years of road construction under his belt.
