Common Draws Crowd At Macy's Book Signing
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago-born hip-hop artist and actor Common drew a crowd of at least 200 this afternoon at Macy's Loop store - where he was signing copies of his new book, "One Day It'll All Make Sense."
One of the first in line was Karl Kusreau of Chicago, who had Common sign one of his books - and a painting that Kusreau had done.
"This painting is a painting of the cover of his album 'Be.' It's a painting to pay homage to the album," Kusreau said.

Kusreau got in line at 10 a.m.--two hours ahead of the book-signing.
"Why not? It's not too often you have an opportunity like this." he said. "And he's done a lot for Chicago and for the youth. A lot of hip-hop music, specifically, can be very negative and selfish. And the music he puts out there is creating a new genre."
And on Kusreau's painting, Common wrote, 'God bless, Love Common,' with a peace symbol.
To stand in line for an autograph you had to buy the book for $25.
