City Warns Of Bogus Flier Promising Thousands Of Summer Jobs

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The City of Chicago is warning people to beware of a bogus flier that promises 10,000 summer jobs, reports WBBM's Steve Miller.

It's a flier and it's online, too, says Matt Smith, spokesman for the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services.

"Advertising 10,000 jobs. They stuck a city seal on it and they give the address for the Thompson Center and tell people to apply there on May 1."

But Smith says it's phony.

"This is a completely fraudulent flier and frankly I have no idea why anyone would put out a job flier misleading people. Especially in a tough economy. It's just not a decent thing."

Smith says the city's Department of Family and Support Services has been getting calls asking about that flier.

He says what the city has that is legitimate is summer jobs for young people available by online application at www.onesummerchicago.org.
