Chicago White Sox Pound New York Yankees, 7-1

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chris Sale improved to 8-0 as the Chicago White Sox jumped out early and were never tested in its 7-1 victory over the Yankees.

Sale struck out six and walked none. His ERA stands at 1.67.

The Sox hit Yankees starter Luis Severino hard.

The 22-year-old right hander left after 2 2/3 innings because of soreness on the back of his right elbow.

Severino allowed Jimmy Rollins' two-run homer into the right-field second deck, which put Chicago ahead 7-1, and then threw ball one to Jose Abreu.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi went to the mound with head athletic trainer Steve Donohue, and Severino walked to the dugout as Nick Goody relieved.
