Chicago Using Unspent NATO Money On School Gardens
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Children in the Chicago public school system with an interest in nutrition will benefit from a million dollars in unspent NATO funds.

The money will help students in 100 schools grow a garden, and then teach them how to make tasty dishes with those fruits and vegetables.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel took a look at a student-run garden outside Ruiz Elementary School through the project called "The Kitchen Community:"
"I saw the kids that were planting there, garlic," said Emanuel. "And they were planting garlic and they were doing it by how much distance do you need, how you put it outside, what is the best way to nurture it."
The tour was interrupted by a small, but loud group of protesters, claiming this was a diversion from the bigger picture, that a budget deficit could force dozens of schools to close.
