Dozier graduated with a degree in advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. Later, he left the industry and earned a degree in elementary education. Dozier made a drastic change in careers and has not regretted it for a minute. He found his calling in education and has not looked back.

Dozier shares what his position as a technology director and instructor looks like in terms of a typical day. He also shares the favorite part of his job and how he enjoys the fast paced environment. Mark gives excellent advice to those who are considering a similar career in technology and working in the educational system.

What are the scope and responsibilities of your current role?

"I currently teach general technology classes for students in grade PreK- 8, manage all devices in the building including desktops, laptops, tablets and networking equipment. Additionally, I work closely with classroom teachers, with the goal of finding the most relevant and efficient uses of educational technologies."

What is your favorite part of your daily duties?

"I love that no two days are alike. Working in an elementary school setting is energetic, fast-paced and unpredictable. My students inspire me and sometimes provide me with unscripted comedy."

Do you feel your education prepared you for your current role?

"In an unconventional way, yes. Although I no longer write ads for television and radio, I still rely on communication and creativity skills that I developed in college."

Do you have any advice for people who desire to pursue a similar career?

"Be open to learning new skills and adapting to new systems. It is definitely the nature of technology."
