Chicago Police Shoot Suspect On Far South Side
(CBS) – Chicago police shot a suspect Friday afternoon on the Far South Side after he allegedly pulled a weapon on officers.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the 10600 block of South Cottage Grove after tactical officers attempted to curb a vehicle while looking for a wanted offender, Chicago Police Department News Affairs said. When the vehicle was pulled over, one of the occupants allegedly pointed a handgun in the direction of police.
An officer shot the suspect, who was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police say a weapon was recovered and no officers were hurt.
The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
It is the second police-involved shooting in the span of a day. On Thursday evening, a Chicago police officer shot and killed a man who allegedly pointed a gun at him in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.
