One person in critical condtion after stabbing in Grant Park
CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person is hospitalized after being stabbed in Chicago's Grant Park Saturday evening.
According to the Chicago Police Department around 7:50 p.m. in the 110 block of South Michigan Avenue, a 26-year-old woman was outside when she was approached by a 44-year-old man. The two got into an argument and then the man stabbed the woman in the chest.
The man then fled the scene, but was located by officers and arrested.
The victim was being transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
One person is in custody, and charges are pending, police said.
It happened about a mile from where the Pride in the Park music festival was underway. It appeared to be unrelated.
The police presence in the area was significantly increased at Grant Park amid all the pride festivities happening across the area as the city is not taking any chances ahead of the 52nd annual Pride Parade Sunday, which will kick off in the city's Uptown neighborhood and wrap up in Lincoln Park.
